The game the Spireites have been waiting for a trip to their local rivals Rotherham. After having to suffer trips to Don Valley the Spireites today visit The New York Stadium for the first time. Both teams will be confident having both won their last games, Rotherham won 3-1 away at Torquay on Tuesday. The Spireites won 2-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon last Saturday. With the Spireites taking 2,300 fans what looks like a sellout, it's going to be a great atmosphere and hopefully a great game.
Paul Cook talking to the official site said:'It is a game with more than three points at stake, I don't think anyone should kid themselves. At the end of the Day if we win we get three points but we also get a lot of bragging rights, and that's important. If we lose we take it on the chin and accept it. '
Steve Evans talking to BBC Radio Sheffield said: 'Games like these mean so much to the supporters. The expectation levels at both clubs are very high. What we all hope for is a great sporting occasion. Chesterfield are a well organised expensively-assembled team, and they play the right way. It's a game about big characters, but games like these are why we are all involved in football. It'll be no holds barred.'
David Noble returns from suspension and Craig Morgan returns after a long-term injury.
Watch out for Daniel Kearns wearing shirt number 35, he recently arrived from Peterborough on loan. He likes to run down the wing and take players on, he is a good set piece taker that can put dangerous crosses in from corners. He can operate anywhere across midfield. I'm hoping he plays on the right wing so Nathan Smith can do battle with him.
Jack Lester gets a place in the starting line-up after five weeks on the bench. Marc Richards (hamstring) is fit, but winger Tendayi Darikwa (hernia) remains unavailable.
Danny Whitaker has been in excellent form this season the playmaker likes to run into space and create chances, he can shoot from distance and a great penalty taker, although it's nearly 50 games since the Spireites last won a penalty.
The Spireites have a good away record against Rotherham winning 16, drawing 6 and losing 9 games, scoring 38 conceding 30 goals. Although the Spireites have lost the last 4 away games to Rotherham they won the previous 4, so maybe it's the Spireites turn to win the next 4.
Paul Tierney from Lancashire is in charge of this game. The last time he was in charge of a game involving the Spireites was last season at Notts County, there was 2 bookings and Chesterfield were unlucky to lose 1-0 and had clear claims for a penalty turned down.
I'm going for a draw, this will be an highly competive game with both teams desperate to win. If the Spireites can stay solid at the back and exploit Rotherhams defensive weaknesses the Spireites could sneak it.
The next fixture is against Gillingham at the Proact Stadium, a tough game for the Spireites with the visitors currently 2nd in the table.
