The Spireites put in a great display against Northampton winning 3-0 at The Proact. Southend have suffered a slump in form, since the two teams last met, they have lost their last 2 games, an FA Cup fixture at Brentford losing 2-1, an a 3-0 defeat at Exeter. They beat Dagenham and Redbridge away 3-0, this was the first match after beating the Spireites, since then they have lost 3 games and drawn 1 in the league. Cook talking to the club website said: 'If we play like we did against Northampton, we'll win the game. It's not complicated Southend have their hands full with us.'
Paul Sturrock talking to the Media said: 'I think tomorrow is another difficult and dangerous game for us because they're a very good side with some exciting forward players and it will be tough for us there.

With a full squad to choose from Cook has plenty of options with striker Gnanduillet and full back Brindley looking to make their debuts having both just signed until the end of the season.

Tendayi Darikwa Decembers League 2 young player of the month winner will be a big threat. mainly playing on the right wing can pop up all over the pitch, never stops running or closing down and a constant menace to oppositions defence and now being scouted by Everton and Liverpool.

Southend will give late fitness tests to Marc Laird (hamstring) and Ryan Cresswell (shoulder), but Kevan Hurst (back) is expected to return. Loan signing Caolan Lavery is available but striker Britt Assombalongo (shin) is still unavailable.
