More Reliable Than A League 1 Octopus? (24/4/17)

More Reliable Than A League 1 Octopus? (24/4/17)

Time for the new special computer that crunches the numbers to determine the final League One positions for 2016/17.

Last season the Octopus feature was a regular feature for the Premier League, but whilst it was a late arrival for League One - well better late than never - it might have been having its tentacles given a Brazilian I don't know.

Then again I still don't know why I call a number crunching supercomputer an Octopus but some things are probably best left unasked.

In any event here are the updated League One predictions for the season of 2016/17 after most sides have played at least 45 games of the campaign.

Who goes down?! Who is the current favourite to lift the title this year?

Well you don't have to guess.

With most playing 45 games in the League One season of 2016/17, the current favourite to lift the title is Sheffield United - which is no surprise given they did just that the other week. The predictions table has them reach their target now of 100 points for the year.

They are expected to be 14 points ahead of second placed Bolton Wanderers, but they tie up the other automatic spot.

The Play Off spots are also pretty nailed on if the predictions are to be believed - Fleetwood Town, Scunthorpe United, Bradford City and Southend United take their places in the hopes for Wembley success - with Rochdale missing out by only one point.

At the other end of the table Port Vale, Swindon Town, Coventry City and Chesterfield are set for life in League Two in 2017/18.

The one thing that can't be denied now with most having only one game left is a number of clubs will now be very disappointed with where they find themselves (irrespective of if they put any stock in predictions) and with only two sides having two matches left to play, time for speedy change in form has long passed and predictions for this year are now over.
