23 Year old Midfielder/Forward Dan Gardner was first noticed when he was training to be a panel beater at The Manchester College, he was playing for the Academy team and was noticed by scouts, from Scotland. He played for Celtic's youth team, and put in an outstanding performance against Rangers, which secured him a 3 year professional contract. He made a couple of substitute appearances for the reserves. The SPL decided to scrap the Reserve League, so this meant that Gardner was no longer needed ending his dream of playing for Celtic.

He returned to Manchester and played for Flixton in the Vodcat premier Division. He had a trial with Oldham Athletic and Crewe Alexandra.

He earned himself a deal with Crewe after scoring the only goal in a reserve game against Aston Villa. He made 2 substitute appearances in League Two before being released at the end 2009-10 season. He then joined Conference North side Droylsden before signing for Conference National side FC Halifax in July 2012.

He scored 7 goals and 5 assists in 27 appearances for FC Halifax Town which brought him to the attention of the Spireites who have signed him on a 18 month contract for an undisclosed fee.

He is a skillful attacking midfielder, with a real eye for goal.

Hopefully he can have the same impact that Ollie Banks has had on the team who was also signed from non-league. It's great to see the Spireites signing a young hungry ambitious player so early in transfer window.

I would like to welcome Dan Gardner to the Spireites and I look forward to seeing him in a Chesterfield shirt.
