Cook talking to the official club website yesterday said: 'My dad has been ill and he's been given the all-clear today, which is great news for me and my family. To sign a new deal with the club caps a really great day.
'From the chairman down, everyone here has been really supportive. They gave me an opportunity to manage such a great club and the least I can do is repay their faith in me by signing a new deal.
'I've got a great relationship with our chief executive, who has been instrumental in everything I have done at the club. Managers always get the plaudits but without the staff behind you it would be an impossible job, so a big thank you to them as well.'
The Spireites are top of League 2 having won 7 and drawn 1 of their first 8 games, their best ever start to a season. One key factor as been the relationship between Paul Cook and Chris Turner they have both worked hard on bringing in key players into the club like Roberts, Ryan, Morsy, McSheffrey, Humphreys and Evatt. We fans would never have dreamed of us signing all of these players, plus the fact that the players have bonded superbly and are playing so well together.
Another key factor was that Turner gave Cook permission for him to have a major back room staff clear out. He has got the staff around him that he knows really well and that he can totally trust. I like the fact they all share responsibilities, the fact that they all get a chance to talk to the media, after the last match the goalkeeping Nixon spoke to the press. The fact they all valued equally and the fact that they all have a key part to play in the future success of the club.
Credit must also go to Dave Allen and the board not only for bringing Cook to the club from Accrington Stanley, but for also trusting him and backing him in the transfer market and allowing him to go over budget.
The timing is also good with the biggest match since Cook took over has manager coming up this Saturday when the Spireites take on local rivals Mansfield Town. It should give the team a huge lift as they go into a game that means so much to the supporters of the Spireites.
Stand Up said 'Great news regarding Pauls dad first and foremost, now onto footballing matters, absolutely fantastic. Now its time for the stay away fans to come call on the Proact and not just for the big games to see what all the fuss is about. In Cook we trust.'
