Roberts A Potential Signing For The Spireites.

Winger Gary Roberts 29, started his career with the Liverpool Academy, he was dropped in 2001.He then went on to play for 2 Welsh youth teams Denbigh Town and Bala Town, he then joined Rhyl in 2003, and then moved to Welsh Premier League side Bangor City playing 22 times scoring once. He then moved to Welshpool Town making 20 appearances and scoring 9 goals.

Roberts signed for Conference side Accrington Stanley joining them halfway through the 2004/05 season. Roberts was part of the Accrington Stanley side that won the 2005-06 Conference National Championship, that season he made 42 league appearances, scoring 13 goals.

At the beginning 2006/07 season he scored 8 goals from 14 League appearances. He then moved on loan to Championship side Ipswich Town, signing a permanent deal with the Tractor Boys in January. He made a total 52 league appearances for Ipswich Town scoring twice.

After being released he joined Huddersfield Town in 2008, he made 164 League appearances for the Terriers. Scoring 31 goals.

In 2012 he joined Swindon Town, he has made 38 appearances scoring 4 goals, including a goal of the season contender against Tranmere Rovers, lobbing the keeper from 70 yards.

With Cook desperately looking to sign a winger, Roberts definitely fits the bill, the fact the the Spireites are showing interest in this player, shows you how ambitious the club are and how determined they are in getting side together good enough to win promotion from League Two.
