Spireites Sign Jimmy Ryan

Spireites Sign Jimmy Ryan

Jimmy Ryan 24, was released by Scunthorpe after 2 seasons, he made 69 League appearances scoring 4 goals. There was a number of clubs after him, luckily he chose the Spireites.

He started his career at Liverpool, winning the FA Youth Cup twice in 2006 and 2007, he never played for the first team. He then signed for Shrewsbury, making just 5 appearances before moving to Accrington Stanley.

He made 129 league appearances scoring 22 goals before moving to Scunthorpe, he became the first Accrington Stanley player to make the PFA Team of the season in 2010/11.

Jimmy Ryan talking to the official website said: 'I wanted to come here because I knew the staff and I knew the football they wanted to play. I admired them when I played here with Accrington. The club sold itself because you just look around and you know it's going places so I wanted to be part of that.'

He's good at keeping possession and he is capable of scoring from midfield, he should fit well into the team, he also knows that he will need to perform well in order to keep his place and with the chance to extend his contract he will want to impress the club.

Leam Richardson talking to the official club website said: 'Jimmy's someone we identified quite early on who we wanted to bring to the club. 'He's a fantastic footballer and a great lad. He handles the ball very well and to add him to what we're trying to do at Chesterfield just seems right.'

'There were a number of clubs after his signature so we're really glad we've managed to get him over the line and make him a Chesterfield player.'

Welcome to the Spireites Jimmy, we look forward to seeing you play for us next season.
