Togwell Keeps Play-Off hopes Alive.

Togwell Keeps Play-Off hopes Alive.

The Spireites faced their biggest game of the season against Bradford who occupied the last play-off place. A win would put them only a point behind their opponents, a defeat would definitely end their play-off hopes. It wouldn't be easy against a team that made history this season by reaching the League Cup Final, defeating Arsenal and Aston Villa on their way to the final.

Brindley and Gnanduillet made the starting 11, with Brindley playing at Right-back and Gnanduillet replaced Boden and played as the lone striker.

With 3,000 fans making the trip from Bradford it made for a great atmosphere, both sets of fans were up for this one. The Spireites looked the brighter, putting some good passing moves together and taking the game to their opponents. Jay O'Shea found Darikwa in space with a lovely ball, he ran at goal and his shot produced a good save from their keeper.

The bantams took a quick throw-in that caught the Spireites defence sleeping, Hanson received the ball and found Wells who scored past Tommy Lee.

It was unlucky for the Spireites because they had played well, they kept the pressure on with a succession of corners but failed to produce a goal so went in at half-time trailing 1-0.

H.T. 0-1.

The Spireites struggled to get back into the game has Bradford saw a lot of the ball and their attacks were led by Wells who was causing the home defence a lot of problems.

After 55 minutes Richards came on to give Gnanduillet some much needed support in attack he replaced Townsend as the formation switched from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-4-2.

Richards put in a dangerous low cross into the visitors penalty area, Darikwa ran onto it and calmly slotted it past their keeper to put the Spireites level. Suddenly the place erupted as the fans celebrated the goal.

With just over 10 minutes remaining, Lee punched a dangerous ball away which went straight to Ravenhill and he put it straight past Lee, to give the Bantams the lead.

It was looking like the Spireites were going to lose, they were struggling to gain control of the ball, the referee added five minutes injury time on. With 3 minutes of injury-time gone, Togwell ended up with the ball from a corner and made no mistake to draw the sides level and keep the Spireites play-off hopes alive.

F.T. 2-2

Stand Up said:'Brilliant team performance, outstanding in fact with it being against 12 men with them having the referee on their side he was an embarrassment to the football league.'

I blame Stand Up myself because after half an hour he said 'he's doing a good job, one of the best referees I've seen this season'.

Soon as he said it, I thought to myself I hope he's not done a 'Murray Walker' and I was right.

Mark Crossley speaking to the official site said:'The crowd today were superb. Both sets of supporters made that game, but obviously we want the same on Tuesday night.'

We welcome back John Sheridan one of the Spireites most successful managers in the history of the club, when he brings his Plymouth team to the Proact. I hope he gets a big welcome, because he deserves one. When the game starts hopefully the fans will get behind the Spireites and cheer them on to victory.
