A Special From Drew Sees Off The Brew.

A Special From Drew Sees Off The Brew.

The Spireites travelled to Burton knowing they would be in for a tough game against a confident physical organised and a direct Brewers team. Randall who played in a strong reserves side against Bury in midweek were he put in an outstanding display replaced Hird in midfield. Gnanduillet made the bench after recovering from his injury that had sidelined him for a few weeks.

The Spireites come out more determined and full of purpose, they didn't want to start like they had at Torquay when they were 2-0 down after 8 minutes which cost them dearly. Townsend hit a shot with venom that was saved by Tomlinson in the Burton net.

Maghoma their danger man with 14 goals and 10 assists cut inside and let rip and hit the roof of the stand.

Burton were starting to come into the game a bit more, Robbie Weir headed over after being put through by MacDonald. Darikwa put a delightful ball through for Richards and with only the keeper to beat he hit the roof of the Stand. It was 1-1 In the Stand Roof challenge.

Richards again found himself in Space and just has he was running towards goal he was brought down from behind, which could have easily been a red, but Sharps the culprit only received a yellow.

H.T. 0-0

The Spireites again started quickly and the industrious Talbot found himself in space decided to pull the trigger from 25 yards out, he hit an absolute screamer into the top corner of the net giving Tomlinson no chance. The away supporters went wild, I don't know if they were in shock with the goal or the fact that we had a shot from that distance.

The home side looked stunned this wasn't in the script, they kept trying to attack, but they struggled to get through a resolute Spireite defence. The visitors would win the ball in there own half and then play themselves out of trouble, moving forward with the ball and keeping possession well.

Lee Bell hit a powerful drive over the bar for the home side. Gnanduillet came on for Richards, Marc although had nothing to show for his efforts had put in a workman like display working really hard for the team, linking up well with his team mates and keeping possession.

Gnanduillet had only been on the pitch a matter of seconds when he won an header, he then ran through the middle taking on 3 or 4 players before he was booked for a foul on a Burton player. Drew Talbot ran down the wing, keeping the ball and wasting a few valuable seconds.

The final whistle was blown and the Spireites gained their first league win at the Pirelli, the visiting fans were ecstatic because most including me didn't expect us to come here and win.

F.T 0-1

Man of the Match was Randall, he put in a brilliant display of passing, stretching the Brewers defence with some intelligent balls out wide. He deserved his place in the team and proved the gaffer right for starting with him. Drew had a great game, putting in some good tackles to help the defence and was also good coming forward and scored a goal of the season contender. The defence was brilliant and well organised, Brindley linked up well with Darikwa as they start to build up a real understanding.

Stand Up said:'If we pass and play as a team, no team can match us, it's that simple." I have to agree, some of the passing was the best we have seen from the Spireites this season.

Cook talking to the official website said: 'We go to games like today against a really good Burton side, who have been unplayable at home. Make no bones about it, they have scored a lot of goals at home and beat a lot of teams. Today, we've limited them to few chances that I can remember and I thought at times we dominated. To limit teams to chances like that, you have got to work hard and we had some good performances today.'
