Gnanduillet And Brindley To Play Against Belper

Belper Town unusually nicknamed 'The Nailers ', because the craft of nail making began in Belper in the Middle Ages when it was the site of a hunting lodge for John of Gaunt. The huntsmen needed nails for the shoes of their horses and the trade in nails eventually grew.

The football club was formed in 1883, although the Nailers went out of existence three times through lack of finance. They currently play in the Evo-Stik NPL Division One South this is the same division as Sheffield FC and a league below Matlock Town. Don't underestimate them, they are having a good season and currently occupy a play-off place as they are 4th in the table.

They are currently managed by Peter Duffield the former Sheffield United forward who played 58 games and scoring 16 goals for the Blades between 1987-1993, he went on to play for another 18 football clubs. He was player/manager at Retford for 4 years before taking over at Belper in 2011.

In their last match they played Market Drayton Town at home winning 5-0 with goals from Richard Adams, Simon Harrison 2 goals, Shaun Tutton, Glynn Cotton. There danger man could be Simon Harrison who is a versatile player who is comfortable at right wing or centre midfield and as a healthy goalscoring record.

Peter Duffield talking on their official website said: We are looking forward to Tuesdays game at Chesterfield because it's a diversion from what we are used to and it's great to play on a professional ground. I haven't been to the stadium so it's something I'm looking forward to and I know the players are too.'

The Spireites are not taking them lightly and are fielding a strong squad, Spireites XI : Barrington, Brindley, Townsend, Broadhead, Whittaker, Randall, Wafula, Boden, Lester, Gnanduillet, Hazel, Scully, Noel, Slack, Fereday, Bowland, Hewitt.

Kick Off 7-45pm at The Proact, Adults £3, Concessions/child £1-50, so come along and cheer on the Spireites, a chance to see Brindley and Gnanduillet our two new signings and some of the up and coming Youth players including Broadhead who was recently given a Pro Contract by Cook and a chance to see Jamie Hewitts son in action.
