'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tommy Lee Signs A Long Term Deal.

The well liked keeper signed a contract to keep him at the club until 2016, popular with team mates, fans and everyone involved at the club. He made history at the end of last season by becoming the first player to win the club's Player of the Year Award for a third consecutive season.

Although he as been unlucky with injuries over the last two seasons, he has usually made a big impact when coming back. Last season he made his comeback in the Johmstones Paint Trophy tie at Preston, pulling off some brilliant saves in the game and then in the penalty shoot-out. He then pulled off brilliant saves to keep Oldham out in the Northern Final. Then in the final another clean sheet against Swindon helped Spireites win the Trophy.

He played a major part in the Championship winning season, often making crucial saves to keep us in games, the team then going on to win these games. He as been a big part in the Spireites recent successes and he will carry on playing a vital role in the team.

It is great to see a player commit himself to a club, he could easily play at an higher level. These days loyalty is very rare often players move for money or to further their career. He obviously believes that he can win further success with Chesterfield and trusts Paul Cook to deliver it.

Lee speaking to the Club website said: 'It's something that we've been talking about for a couple of weeks and I am pleased to sign.'

It is great that he has signed now, it gets rid of speculation and rumours that he could be leaving the club in the summer.

Chris Turner also talking to the club website said: 'It's great news for the club and I'm sure the fans will be delighted because Tommy is the best goalkeeper outside the Championship, in my opinion. He is a key part of Paul Cook's plans and we feel the loyalty he has shown to the club is fantastic.

I can tell you speaking as a fan we are all delighted that he has signed this contract.
