'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jacob Hazel Goes On A Month Loan to Matlock.

Jacob Hazel 18 having come through the youth ranks he earned a one year contract in the summer. He made his debut for the Spireites at home to Oldham in the Johnstones Paint Trophy on the 4th September coming on for Scot Boden. He then made his full debut on the Saturday, away at York City playing on the left wing in a 2-2 draw.

The last game he played for the first team was at home against Torquay coming on in the 89th minute for Craig Westcarr.

Since then he has been playing in the reserves. I saw him play against Holbrook Sports in the Derbyshire Senior Cup, I don't know if it was his confidence, but he struggled to get into the game. Although he scored 2 in his last game for them against Gateshead, helping the Spireites comeback from 2 goals down to draw 2-2.

Matlock are without striker Messiah McDonald because he starts a 2 match ban. Messiah has been on top form, scoring the winning goal that put Mansfield out of the FA Trophy.

Mark Atkins like Paul Cook gets his teams to play a passing game along the ground, which will suit Hazel. I think it will give him a great opportunity to show Cook what he's capable of. He has got the ability and pace and a good a eye for goal, he showed this in pre-season scoring a few goals in the friendly matches.

So I hope he does well at Matlock, and helps them climb the League and maybe help them pull off another shock in the FA Trophy against Luton.
