Outstanding Spireites Destroy Cheltenham

The only change for the Spireites was Richards coming in for Boden, the 2 new players Townsend and O'Shea had to settle for a place on the bench. It wasn't going to be easy against a team that are third in the table, it was important that the Spireites got off to a good start.

The Spireites looked determined and started quickly out of their blocks, stringing some lovely moves together. They didn't give Cheltenham anytime on the ball and denied them space,

Dickenson made a good run, picking the ball up just outside the box, he beat his man, but failed to keep his shot down, as he hit it over the bar.

A good exchange between Richards and Darikwa , Tendayi then found Atkinson who hit the ball straight past their keeper into the bottom corner. It was well deserved, they was no let off for Cheltenham, as the Spireites continued attacking the Cheltenham goal. Dickenson was continuing to torment their right back.

Darikwa who was also proving a real handful, his cross from the right, fell to Dickenson, his shot produced a good save from Brown.

Some lovely passing again from the Spireites, Richards in the middle passed it to Whittaker, a lovely ball from him saw Darikwa run onto it, he unleashed a shot which crashed against the bar, Togwell headed the rebound home to make it 2-0.

H.T. 2-0.
Mark Allott received a well deserved standing ovation from the crowd for his 11 years he gave to the Club. He thanked the fans for all his kind wishes he had received. Dave Allen said a few words before presenting him with a memento.

The Spireites continued to pile the pressure on Cheltenham, they were not content on sitting back, they were going for the jugular. The Robins had a corner which I feel should have been a goal kick, Kaid Mohamed rose above the Spireites defence to pull a goal back.

Surely the Spireites couldn't slip up in a game they had dominated. A Throw-in that should have gone to the Spireites led to a goal, a ball was played through to Richards he hit it perfectly to restore Towns 2 goal lead.

Richards got a standing of ovation when he was replaced by Lester as did Dickenson when he was replaced by Boa Morte.

A Boa Morte corner was met by Lester, he Scored with his chest. The crowd went ballistic, the atmosphere was amazing as the fans bounced their team to the final whistle.

F.T. 4-1

For the 90 minutes the Spireites dominated against a good Cheltenham side, they defended as a team they attacked as a team. They were full of running, winning most of the 2nd balls. One of the best performances at the Proact formerly the B2 NET by the Spireites if not the best one.

Cook gets my Man of the Match, he has been here just under a month and to get the team playing the way they did against a team 3rd in the League, is a credit to him. They now travel to a struggling Plymouth side, looking to go on a winning run that could see them get close to the play-offs.
