Bowland Nets Hat Trick For The Youth Team

The Youth team travelled to York without 6 First team players, including Tom Whittaker, Jordan Slack and. Matthew Clark. Regan Edridge, Jamie McNicholas and Lawrence Maguire were called into the team. It wasn't going to be easy against a team that are 2nd in the league. The Spireites have been struggling to find their form this season, although they did win their last game against Hartlepool Youth.

Fabian Johnson came close to scoring, an header just going over and a shot just wide of the target. The young Spireites were dominating the game, a lovely pass from Fereday was met by Bowland who scored past the on rushing keeper. Moments later Noel who played for the reserves recently, got past a couple of players before hitting a curling shot which produced a great save from Archer.

Chamberlain came close to putting the home team level, his low drive was saved by Josh Barrington. H.T. 0-1.

York were trying to get back in the game, Chamberlain a constant threat saw his first time effort go just over the bar. Noel again made a good run, beating a few defenders before seeing his shot saved by Archer, the rebound was pounced on by Bowland who scored his 2nd.

Tom Allan nearly pulled one back for York, his effort hitting the cross bar. Jake Beesley replaced Johnson upfront. It didn't take long for him to make an impact, he ran through their defence before producing a lovely low cross, Bowland met it, to score his third and seal a well earned win at York. F.T. 0-3.

Bentley the Youth team manager spoke to the club website: 'I thought we were magnificent, we got what we deserved today because we worked for the whole 90 minutes. It was a great effort topped off by a great hat trick from Brad (Bowland).'

Chesterfield Youth team: Barringon, Edridge, Broadhead, Maguire, McNicholas, Fereday, Scully, Hewitt, Noel (Partridge 83), Bowland, Johnson (Beesley, 68).
