'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mark Allott leaves the Spireites

Having made just under 350 league appearances, scoring 14 goals, in two spells for the club, an agreement as been reached for his contract to be terminated.

He played a big part in the league 2 Championship winning season, his quality was that he was a very hard working player and rarely gave the ball away, he would keep the ball going and protect the back 4, when he was missing during that season the team struggled to keep the ball.

Chris Turner speaking to the club website said: 'Mark has been a superb professional, winning Player of the Year awards and giving his all for the club over the years. I'd like to take to take this opportunity, on behalf of the club, to thank him for his loyal service and wish him well for the club. '

Speaking to the club website, Allott said 'I'd like to thank the fans and everyone I've worked with during my time at the club. I've made many friends here and experienced every emotion, helping Chesterfield win the League 2 title and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Wembley, as well as suffering relegation. '

It's always sad when someone like Mark who has given most of his career to the Spireites, leaves the club. He will be missed by many, in and around the club.

My memory of him was last season, I had gone to the toilet during the game at Bury. I heard a loud cheer, so I thought I would ask the next person that came in who had scored for the Spireites. So I did, he told me, I then realised it was Mark Allott, he was with his kids, he was injured for that game. It was great to see him amongst the Town fans with his family.

Good luck, thanks Mark for the great memories, I hope you find a club soon.
