'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jack Broadhead gets two and a half year contract.

The 18 year Old was the clubs Young Player of the Year last season. The young centre back is also Captain of the youth team.

Cook noticed his talent straightaway and had no hesitation in putting him on the bench for the game against Hartlepool and then brought him on for his debut with a few minutes to go.

David Bentley the youth team manager speaking to the press said: 'it's unheard of really for us to give a contract out to a young player at this stage of the season, Jack is a good lad who as done really well for us'.

It's great that Cook having not been at the club long feels that talent needs to be recognised and rewarded and by doing this gives a boost to the player knowing that the manager as so much faith in you.

Speaking to Spireites player Jack said: 'I appreciate how lucky I am to get a chance at Chesterfield, I'm prepared to work, I will work as hard as I can to make it happen because I know there are a lot of lads out there that would give their right arm for what I've got, I've still got a long way to get in as a regular (in the first team) but obviously it's my main goal'

He seems to have his head screwed on and he clearly has the ambition and drive to succeed at the club. I hope he gets a long run in the team soon. With there being a shortage of centre backs I don't think it will be long.
