A Belgian Spireite talks to Vital Chesterfield.
It was great to stand amongst the Spireites at Bristol Rovers.
We all became Spireites on November 25th 2011 when we were having beers in Brussels. Basically, we are all supporters of different teams here in Belgium and we wanted to support one team together. We love England and English football, so we went for an English football team.
We selected Chesterfield the last team in league One. It Chesterfield we made no mistake. Since then, we visited the stadium twice. Our first trip was an unlucky one, back in February we got to the ground only for the fixture against Charlton to be called off, we even returned for the re-arranged fixture only to see Charlton triumph by four clear goals. We stayed optimistic and were rewarded when we bought tickets for the JPT Final at Wembley and witnessed a fantastic performance to clinch the Trophy.
In August, we saw the game against Rotherham, we were introduced to the crowd prior to the game, and we also visited the changing rooms.
We travelled to Bristol just to see an away game, it is not too far from Belgium. The atmosphere was really good and the game was entertaining, shame about the result, but we had big emotions.
We were 7 this time, me, Benjamin, Jules, Jonathan, Pierre, Marc and Clement. Some others were present at the other games.
We hope to come back at beginning of next year. Our next challenge to go to the Town by bike.
I hope the Spireites can still finish in the top 5 this season.
Every Spireite is welcome to visit us in Brussels, and feel free to join our Facebook page: The Belgian Spireites.
Thank you Slyvain it was great seeing you all at Bristol and your vocal support was much appreciated. We look forward to seeing you all at future games. Maybe we will come and visit you in Brussels or get the Spireites to play a friendly there.
